Meeting up in C'dale
Game log for the 2014/07/27 session of The Mouldering World, as taken by Joe
Amber is standing in line for the bathroom when I meet up with her in the Spit. Resonance is gone, last seen eating at the Spit with a beautiful woman. Amber eats breakfast with me and offers to escort me into the train shed. One of the goons gives me the stink eye, but Amber vouches for me. I go to read him as a person and he has his magnum nestled in my groin. He tells me to go away but Amber gets "dangerous and sexy" to distract him. I step around and enter the shed, followed by Amber.
The loco is being pressure tested but Ghilly keeps finding more leaks. She gets annoyed and sends me for paint. After a brief and (to me) humorous bit of repartee, she tells me that she needs me to paint the loco in marine paint. She suggests black, I ask for red, she says "whatever."
As I search for the paint, I tell Amber about my vision to drive the big red locomotive east, pulling a train full of people to where the Sun might be hiding. Since the shed's paint locker is long since looted, I go into the market to find Becky. It is a steady downpour and everyone is short tempered and barking at each other. I find Becky and give her something to eat while we talk about where I can find marine paint.
She takes me to a stall that has paint. I trade my barter (box of spent shell casings) for 10 gallons of black marine paint. Becky helps carry it back to the shed and I talk to her about getting a job painting in exchange for food. We start painting and stay dry.
Fluffy, now out of the gulag, borrows Borax's truck and heads for C'dale. Along the way, she meets Casey, the albino from the gulag, who is engaging in some highway banditry. He's got 14 or 15 creep-infested goons (two with guns) and wants to come with her. They pile on to the overloaded pickup and get to a campsite just outside of C'dale. Looking out toward C'dale, she opens her mind to the maelstrom and bleeds black blood.
Pulling herself together, she takes two of the least funky looking creepers (Janna and Levi) and goes into C'dale. The goons make her check her weapons but she gets in.
Amber and JonJo see Fluffy with her two new friends in the market. JonJo reads them and detects faint signs of the malaise. Fluffy's guy friend is watching Amber closely. We get through the market and Minxie comes running up to tell us that someone has kidnapped Ghilly and Wild Bob.
I whisper Becky's name to the void (Lost) and she comes to me. We get to the shed and find the goons dead or missing. I whisper Ghilly's name to the void and find her tied and gagged in the coal car. She had escaped and hidden in the coal car. She isn't sure what they wanted. Reluctantly, I whisper Bob's name but nothing happens.
I find myself in a courtroom, with the other PCs asking me questions. Amber asked what our history was (we had sex when I first got to Binghamton. Fluffy wanted to know if she could trust me, since I'd left her for dead once before (it had been a result of circumstance, not something that I had planned on or wanted to do). The MC wanted to know if I intended to convert Fluffy's creeper gang (sure, why not?)
Back in reality, we're still in the train shed. Even though I'd tried, Ghilly is still intent on finding Bob. Fluffy wants the meds first, however. Becky offers to find a friend of a friend who might know a chemist, all while trying to stay upwind of Fluffy and her partners. Becky wants to charge JonJo for the meds and have Fluffy pay him back.
Becky takes the creeper trio into the market to hunt for her chemist friend. They get to an old mobile home and knock on the door. The guard tells them to fuck off. The discussion goes badly and the guard shuts the door in their face. Fluffy, undeterred, knocks again and forces her way past the guard. He shoots her with a beanbag shotgun load, but she gets past and into the mobile home.
She gets to the top of the stairs and finds the chemist holding a gun on her. They bargain and talk for a long time, but in the end the chemist offers to help Fluffy in exchange for some labor. She asks for details and he says that he'll give meds to her and the other two to get started, and will then fill her in on what it'll take to get meds for the rest of her bunch. Becky tells Fluffy a bit about the chemist's peculiar habits. Hearsay has it that the chemist does strange things like exchange blood donations (a pint a day for a week) or having a person shine a flashlight out of a specific window for meds.
Meanwhile, JonJo and Amber are following Ghilly as she charges off to find Buzz and get some help. Ghilly lays out the problem but Buzz looks uncomfortable. JonJo gets the impression that Buzz's guys are very tense and he suspects that they're going to start shooting soon. Since Ghilly is pressing the issue, JonJo loosens his magnum in the holster and gets Amber's attention.
JonJo sees a guy quietly walk up and put a gun to the back of Amber's head. Buzz pulls some bullshit about a "security situation" and the need to lock down us and the village. Each of us is placed in a holding cell and our weapons put in the hallway in a big orange bin.
