Game log for the 2025/03/16 session of Star Wars - Deniable Asset, as taken by Jason

Since prisoner Klar spat at Igli, TL-DR steps in to interrogate her. Even with the aid of some props that Conzenz cooked up, TL-DR can't get anything more than name, rank, and serial number out of her. TL-DR tells her now it's the Wookie. That still doesn't scare her, but she tells the droid that if they take her to whoever gives it orders, she'll talk. TL-DR makes contact with Anax Fez via the insurance company, and gets a time and date for a meeting. Gar, Phex, and TL-DR leave the ship for the meeting.

Fez is quite interested in the story, and would be willing to have New Republic intelligence take custody of the prisoner and the data cores. She provides rendezvous coordinates to hook up with intel.

On the ship, Myyla goes to use the facilities, and as she takes care of some pressing personal business, Klar turns up free and draws Myyla's vibrosword. The Wookie slides her brass knuckles on and throws a punch almost in one motion, doing the ex-Imperial no kindness, but Klar's counterstroke with the vibrosword hurts pretty badly too. Myyla's next punch hits even harder, and Klar tries to turn and run. She gets the door open, but the wookie slams it shut with overwhelming force, then punches her hard enough to ring her bell quite loudly. She tries one last uncoordinated lunge, but Myyla just wraps her up and crushes the wind out of her. This time Igli and Con are taking no chances. While she's still out, they lean her up against the corridor wall, then Con welds a bracket down around her.

As we head to the meetup, TL-DR tells the prisoner that we're handing her off to the Hutts. At that point, she decides that she wants to make a deal. She'll talk if we don't hand her over. She provides a lot of nothing, but eventually TL-DR gets her to say that General Kallax will be sending scouts to investigate. She can't say where that party would originate, because the fleet is always moving around. Igli remembers a Major Kallax who used to run a group of Imperial commandoes. TL-DR pushes, and she admits that she's seen a lot of message traffic for something called Project Leviathan, which Kallax is personally supervising. Igli brings the Asset out of hyper just the other side of the border with the Borab sector, someplace absolutely nowhere, and hand her over. Con encourages the New Republic MPs to issue a press release about Klar's defection, thanking her for cancelling the base's self-destruct. At this rendezvous, we meet Captain Trondo of New Republic Intelligence, a Bothan.

Con trawls through the Imperial dataflow, and gets a map of their comm systems. He also gets a boost die for breaking local Imperial encryption.

The team works up an edited summary of what we've found and done to the Hutts, claiming that the base self-destructed before we could gather any information. When then go back to the Elnoor system to stake out the base and wait for the Imperial scouts to show up. Igli picks a hiding spot based on his knowledge of Imperial procedures, and eventually, sure enough, three TIE bombers fly directly overhead. We man battle stations and head to look to see what brought the TIEs. Con's attempt to jam their comms fails, and the three bombers scatter in three different directions. Phex targets the closest TIE bomber and shoots in down in one volley. Myyla's fire at the second-closest TIE misses, and the third escapes altogether. Igli rapidly closes the distance with the second TIE, and Phex shoots it down too. Con's able to locate the ionization trail of the third fighter, and discovers that the trail isn't the trail of just a single ship. There's at least one more signature in there. As the Asset climbs out of atmo, they see the TIE heading for a civilian freighter modified as a carrier, with TIE fighters covering. Con tries to develop a scan profile for that carrier, but before he even has a proper start, it begins launching even more fighters. Igli declines to wait to be intercepted and punches the ship elsewhere.

The crew then had back to Tios, hoping to once again make contact with Goro. Our old and slightly slimey pal Darvon affects to be happy to see us, and assures TL-DR that his master will be happy to meet them at the Precipice sabbacc club. Igli and Con remain aboard ship, circling above the spaceport traffic pattern, while everyone else goes to make nice. The club seems to be shut down - maybe for renovation? There are, however, goons everywhere. Goro is there, but Darvon is the face as usual, talking about how excited he is to meet them in person and work with them. However, there will be one minor difficulty, as they have to explain themselves to Goro. TL-DR suggests that maybe Goro should reduce the crowd, since there will be sensitive information shared. Goro sends a few guards away. TL-DR tells him about the scope of his Imperial entanglements. Goro isn't happy that the team ran off on him. Our actions, he says, showed initiative, which is not what he wants from us or pays us for. It's a close-run thing, but TL-DR manages to successfully bullshit Goro the Hutt. Goro decides that he's glad he trusted his gut and didn't kill us when Iros wanted him to. Based on what we think the Imperials know, Goro asks, do the Imperials know what he's up to? TL-DR suggests that the Hutts should prepare more, since there may be more contingencies. Goro is skeptical and thinks he should accelerate his timetable. TL-DR tries to counsel patience, but Goro isn't taken in by his flattery. He thinks the Hutts need haste. He also orders Darvon to pay up, and will offer another 30k credits for our next mission, which Darvon will brief him on. He hands TL-DR a data slate, which is a profile of a man he needs killed in the next four days: the Tiosian Minister of Defense.
