Getting Started
Game log for the 2017/09/17 session of Legacy: Crucible, as taken by Joe
Adriel is returning from the east, where she was looking for better places for the Children to live. She encountered a small settlement and preached the faith. She is bringing one of their family with her to show the Children.
Finneas is traveling from an outpost in the north (Berliss), heading south. He is bringing parts for a water purifier.
Adriel and her group meet up with Finneas’ caravan. He’s running out of food, but Adriel is fine and has found an abandoned camp on her journey. Looting the camp gives her Barter but also loads her down. They join up and resume the trip east to the Holes.
Chevron just killed a Stalker in the mountains north of the mesa. Energy projectors for eyes, lots of legs, lives in a bunker. Killed one of the elders of the Tyrant Kings. This one is bigger but has some sort of antenna array on the rear of the thorax. He thinks it might be able to communicate, where before they were solitary and territorial.
Ash is on the trail of Chevron’s group because Stalkers protect things. Now that they’ve killed the thing, he’s going to sneak in while they’re stripping down the Stalker.
He’s in scavenge mode when Chevron hears Ash. Ash gets away but the TKs regroup to a better battle footing. They hammer the oncoming Stalkers but Glitter, a senior NCO, was hurt in the fight with the first Stalker and didn’t survive the second encounter. The Stalkers run away. The TKs resume stripping the first Stalker while Chevron hunts for Ash.
Walton met some traders coming through the hills. The town dwellers didn’t recognize them and just slaughtered the traders. THat goes against the code, so the Lawgivers killed them and are bringing them back to the town. They are delayed but the sounds of a fight ahead of them.
Ash’s flight is delayed when he discovers a secret of the wasteland. He finds an indication of the origin of the Fall. The radio dish is recessed into the ground and he falls in when he tries to walk across it. He finds the control tower and loots it, finding the tech that’s going to make him a leader of the clan.
Chevron can’t understand how Ash disappeared. Stepping close, he sees the antenna and the hole Ash made. He drops through the hole and finds Ash stripping the control tower of Tech. Chevron tells him to follow and see what they found. Ash follows unbelieving but listens as Chevron tells him how to find the Stalkers
Adriel has led the caravan to the Holes. Her Visitor (called Bart) is getting introduced to the Flock. Finneas stays to eat and joins the tent meeting. When he leaves, he speaks well of the Children.
Clive runs Mesa Town. His family exterminated the Pale Ones and gets medicine from Finn’s folk. Audrey is the town’s bursar. Walton walks up and “returns the bodies of the lawbreakers” in the town. Walton shows that he is a Statesman but Clive isn’t happy that his nephew is dead. Clive invites Walton to leave.
Finneas is standing at the bottom of the gantry waiting to go up and trade. Finn asks about the old commune that the Children started. Walton doesn’t have much to say about the Children but Finn won’t talk bad about them. He wants information about the old commune as a possible location for a trading post. Walton advises that the Guild make an offer rather than occupy without permission. He reads the wind about Down Low and finds an opportunity for profit, but not without risk. He needs to make a deal with the Children.
Ash and Chevron get caught in a sandstorm and are delayed returning to the Stalker cave. Adriel sends Bart to “hear the Word” but he rejects the teachings and runs away. The Children drag him back, but their hold is tenuous but Bart is ferocious and people get hurt.
The Bedu are worried when Ash doesn’t come back. They read the wind Upcoming Upset - The Smiths wants the Visitor to help them settle Down Low, which is sure to bring them into conflict with the Children. Coming betrayal - Clive vs Walton Opportunity for profit - The battle plan Ash found in the control tower. The Googen hide their stuff in a camp near the old reactor.
Walton orders his minions to disguise themselves and go back to trade in the town. Clete leads the boys back into town but Clive spots them. He takes a three hostages from the boys visiting the bar and Clete has to leave without them. They read the wind and return with news of an upcoming upset. (The boys in the jail, roughed up but not killed, but the rumor is that Audrey wants to put them on trial - which basically puts the family code on trial.)
Walton tells Brutus to solve this the old fashioned way. They break out the three. Festus dies in the jail, Hep gets holed on the gantry, and Hambone makes it back. There’s going to be no denying that the Kinmont shot their way in, killed a few townspeople, and made their escape. Finn’s caravan gets caught in the crossfire but just hunkers down.
