Biography
Alonso Mendez de Gallegos del Castille is a Knight Inquisitor of the Vaticene Church. Not much is known about him beyond that he was brought to the monastery to attend to the arrest of Reginald Buckley and those with him. His men were incapacitated or slain and Alonso was bound but not captured. The party fled and took some of his effects, including a Vaticene cross pendant, his personal bible, and a small leather pouch.
The Iron Pin
Hidden within Alonso's bible was a code wheel and the leather pouch contained a small length of string and an iron pin. The party discovered the pin would move under it's own power at a certain time of day. The pin, in conjuction with the code wheel, was found to be a communication device. They were able to send and recieve several messages, ostensibly from other Inquisitorial agents, before deciding to cease all communications. The party has not determined the full extent of the pins capabilities, if any more pins exist, or who the other party is, or where they might be. Some suggestions from Professor Mario Guzman de Gallegos are that the Inquisition likely has the 'operators' of the pin within Vaticene City and the pin could be the product of the Lodestone of Saint Aloysius, a mythical artifact that could link items when touched together.
