Maximum Overdrive

Game log for the 2017/04/16 session of Wanderers, as taken by Joe

We’re at camp about two days from the Cliffs of Insanity when there’s a problem over at the Taco Truck. Spoon and Fifi are trying to bump uglies but something is getting in the way and causing a fuss. The Taco Truck is moving, but Spoon is still in the tent.

The Taco Truck takes off but Grey Rat manages to jump into the driver’s seat.

The Truck is swerving and juking but Ace is maneuvering the War Buggy next to it. We take off in the WarBus to see the fun, but by the time we get anywhere we see Ace heading back with Grey Rat. We turn around and head back to camp at the same time we hear the small arms fire from the direction of the camp. Ace rockets ahead.

We get to camp and help Ace and Rat loot the dead. Fifi’s kind of fucked up but Rat gets her back together and we all find plenty of stuff. Fifi put a hurt on some serious customers. Grey Rat and Ace arm up and head off into the salt flat on foot to try and catch the raiders. We stay and pack up our gear. In my new life, I’m better at fucking than fighting.

Spoon drives up. He hops out of the Truck, naked and oozing blood. He walks over to the front, pops the hood, and wrestles around for a while. He’s having an argument with the Truck, which is weird. He’s carrying a punch saw, which is weirder.

There’s more small arms fire in the distance. Bastet wants to jump, but I want to wait for Fifi and more firepower. Ace and Rat get back, there’s an argument about the number of corpses, and suddenly Rat tells everyone that we need to leave immediately.

We see the Cliffs around noon. By nightfall we’re at the Cliffs themselves. We head south, passing a number of burned out vehicles and desicated bones along the cliff face. We camp there, hoping to scare away scavengers with out armor.

While I’m on guard, a single old man approaches and asks to join the group. I’ve woken Horus and Ace to alert them to his presence, but everyone calms down. His name is Jack Link and he plays a mean jew’s harp. He “joins together with the band” and is rather chatty. He’s got crystals wrapped in lizard skins. We talk about that a bit and I let him know that we’re looking for a cure for the Fix. He lets me know that we’re going to have trouble moving around and we’re “proper fucked.”

He’s heard that there’s a hospital in the east mountains where they treat the Fix. It’s a rumor but I’m not in a position to bargain. Jack offers to guide us to the hospital and I take him up on the offer. I introduce him to the others as the sun climbs.

We get to Heimdal’s Elevator. Jack tells me that I won’t be allowed up, given my condition. I go with Jack to find the hospital and tell Bastet to take the WarBus up the elevator. I’ll meet up with the band at the top of the Cliffs. Before they leave, we discover that Bastet, Horus, and Ace are showing symptoms.

I ask myself if Rat would be cool with me going off with Jack and I find that the answer is no. He no longer holds my leash and Spoon now holds it. Should I have given it to Ace? Only time will tell.
