Not My Kid

Game log for the 2017/01/08 session of Wanderers, as taken by Joe

<<From Major Tom's Point of View>> Theme Song: Billie Jean by Michael Jackson

I’m looking for gang prospects and Grey Rat is looking for Fast Freddy, so we head out making sure to stay away from Sparta. In the distance, we see a line of people leading camels. We approach openly, with Spoonman honking his horn. There are 8 - 10 of them, but I recognize 2 of them in orange turbans as the lipless acolyte types from Sparta.

Spoon tries to talk with them. They need clean water and want to trade a woman. Spoon makes the trade, giving them his highly radioactive water for the woman. They say that Apollo’s Well has run dry, which is why they need water. The people of Apollo’s Well are selling their people for water. Ace has slept with her, her name is Randy.

The orange men pull out a geiger counter, but Spoon distracts them by insisting he check out the woman first. Randy’s got rad burns, as do some of the other caravaners. While Spoonie doing his gig, Ace is talking with the orange dudes. He’s asking about the black goo. They tell him that it is “the Corruption” and is darkness personified. It comes from “beyond the cliffs” south and east of us.

Eventually, we make it to the Dauntless, an old aircraft carrier buried in the sand. Ace and Fifi have been here before. They know that the ship’s reactor still functions. A guy named Pips comes up and offers us a job guarding against whoever is sabotaging the ship’s electrical grid. I station people around the ship.

I’ve posted my folks around the Engineering section when Fifi appears. She tells us that Spoonman is scheduled to fight in the chain locker against someone called “the Crusher.” She is making Pips very agitated but I convince him that she and I aren’t working together. He demands that I search her, so I do, avoiding exposing her concealed knife and pistol. My offer is to have her kill the Crusher and have Spoonman finish the repair job for free. He’s amazed that Fifi isn’t packing but we head off to Captain Savage’s quarters to get his approval on the deal.

Once there, the Captain is an unstable, ranting Captain Queeg type. I try to make a deal and get told to STFU. So I do. Fifi offers to fight the Crusher instead of Spoonman, but Captain Savage is torn between her walking the plank and fighting in Spoonman’s place. Savage’s goons handcuff her and put a noose around her neck. They lead her to the chain locker.

I ask if there’s a deal to be made, but Savage isn’t talking and Pips agrees that I should get back to work. I tell SPD that we need to find the vulnerable spots in Engineering, in case we need to leave in a hurry.
