LogApocalypse World: Purgatoria After Dark-Jason-6
The General and the jerk
Game log for the 2016/02/21 session of Apocalypse World: Purgatoria After Dark, as taken by Jason
When the Collapse came, we realized the problem too late to be able to stop it. Someone even tried tectonic venting, using nuclear weapons to blast through the crust to relieve pressure. The results were... extreme.
We begin several days after the last session. Natalya has hired new help, Gregoriy, and has explained to him about Oksana and Anton. Arbo has taken over Coffeemesto after Semyon's departure. It's time to try switching Oksana and Anton back. Watch this space.
Adrian, last seen kidnapped from Aerolith Nurnburg, washes up on Aerolith Murmansk and gets taken to Natalya's infirmary. Small world, huh?
Bad news for Oksana and Anton. The neural patterner wipes them both, leaving them completely catatonic. Gleb wants to take their vacant bodies back to the Hoard, and the other kids are willing to go along, but Natalya and Gregoriy disagree. Konstantine calls for the children to back down, but they refuse. Natalya pulls her stun gun but Babushka intervenes, physically interposing herself between Natalya and the children, and then pushing her out of the room. The kids refuse to back down and leave with the bodies. Konstantine is almost weeping with frustration that yet another misfortune has struck the children, and also feeling very cranky at Gregoriy's smartass jokes.
Adrian comes to Konstantine and tells him that Had'ich across the street wants Adrian to help take down the building. Adrian needs labor and explosives. Labor can be had, explosives less so. Konstantine suggests that the People's Party might be willing to step in and help take care of problems that the Worker's Party regime isn't interested in, to gain the good will of the people. Arbo thinks that might work but they'll need to talk to Yavno.
Some stuff happens when the General in Stasis shows signs of cryofailure or some other sort of cardiac trouble, forcing them to thaw him out. The Major now has a senior officer. Babushka and Karina go to pick up some stuff from the infirmary to help with the treatment, and Karina also puts the word out to try and get some more situationally appropriate clothing for Babushka. Jinte just happens to have the right thing handy, so now Babushka doesn't stand out nearly so much. Gregoriy gets them the supplies, but them tries to follow them in the tunnels. Babushka sends the children on ahead and then waits for Gregoriy, who wants to be taken to Natalya. He doesn't trust Babushka to look out for Oksana, and wants to see Natalya about it. Babushka explains that she wants to be trustworthy and would like to help, but he won't accept any help other than being taken to Natalya or Oksana. Babushka won't do the former and can't do the later. Babushka suggests a warm beverage to make Gregoriy feel better, which mostly just confuses him. He responds by threatening to make her take him to Natalya, but of course Babushka does not back down. They end up going to Coffeemesto in hopes of finding Konstantine.
They arrive as Adrian and Konstantine are finishing their problem with Arbo. Gregoriy keeps pushing them to produce either Natalya or Oksana. They come to blows and Gregoriy ends up with the Major in an arm lock. They negotiate and it's almost a truce when he tries to take the Major's Nagant, and then they fight again. This time, Konstantine prevails. He resists the temptation to execute Gregoriy outright and tells Babushka to have Natalya meet them in the pump room. Babushka relays the message, and Natalya sets the monitors for automatic and goes to join them. He backs down when he sees that his boss is safe, and Konstantine bluntly explains that running his mouth about informing on revolutionary activity in Cofeemesto will get him stabbed by any number of people. Gregoriy suddenly realizes that this is actually helpful and advice and not just the Major running his mouth, and agrees to be more careful.
Natalya opens her mind, hoping to figure out what she'd been doing wrong. Dr Zhivago tells her she has to let go.
