Unknown Raider

Game log for the 2011/06/09 session of Rogue Trader: After the Gold Rush, as taken by Jason

Opiter Castus makes himself a twin-linked compact stub revolver. (Not to be confused with a StuG revolver.)

Wandering Minstrel arrives at last.

Lord Captain Machariel comes down sick and retreats to his quarters.

Livienne and Roe decide that they want to investigate the ship's beacon we're picked up from one of Haldr's seas. Drax tries to analyze the signal to check for a trap, and finds nothing to worry about. We decide to see if we can find a submersible in one of Haldr's floating cities, which of course we can, and attempt to recondition it. Opiter finds one that can carry half a dozen passengers and supports lots of tools - it was probably used to maintain the hull of the hive. He tries to commune with the Machine Spirit in order to develop a finer awareness of the craft's capabilities, and discovers it has a test depth of about 8km. Opiter, Anastasia, Drax, Jotham, and a Test-Priest hop aboard and prepare for our descent.

Our quarry turns out to be a Raider-size starship, lying on its side in the sea bottom muck. It bears no resemblance to Imperial or Heretic designs. We detect some systems still powered up. The Rite of Sounding reveals flooding of perhaps 1/3 of the ship, including the Engineerium. We could work inside the ship using hard voidsuits, which definitely opens up a path toward getting her working, or at least turning her beacon off.
