Early Life

The boy who would become Opiter Castus was born ominously healthy on the poisoned and lethal world of his tribe. He crested the stature of the hardiest warriors by the time he was seven, and by fourteen he was the towering right hand of his chieftain. In council fires, he heard disjoint tales of the millenia past glories of a world before the poisons spilled out of black towers and a living hate erupted out of the ground itself. Alone, he scoured black tunnels of broken, overgrown cities looking for any answers that might save a few more from their terrible daily extinction.

Imperial Service

The Auxilia Myrmidon landed on what had been written of as a long fallen forge world. Opiter was offered to them by his chieftain as a scout to lead them through their own cities; and he spent over a decade among them, their servitors, their ruins, and precious few recovered relics. He was saved from a planned doom of being hollowed and rebuilt as a premier combat servitor by Rune Priest Mettius Uller Castus, who took Opiter offworld when their fleet departed. He was taught the priests' histories and faith even as he served in a unit of jeering Guardsmen attached to the Mechanus forces. ("Aren't you a little short for an Ogryn?") To keep him and his nature away from the increasingly prying eyes of commissars, he was sent to Mars to receive his implants and formal induction into the Machine Cult, as well as the name he now carries. Before being shuttled off to the Koronus Expanse, Opiter Castus received bitter word of Mettius's demise and instructions that he inherit a particular implant of his mentor.

Current Career

Beneath hulking rust red robes of the Machine Cult, Opiter Castus is assigned to accompany and faithfully serve endeavors of House Machariel. Any reasons behind this assignment are less important to him than the archeotech waiting to be found and the surname he strives to honor.
