Getting On With The Show

Game log for the 2017/03/12 session of Wanderers, as taken by Joe

In a shitty little fleaspeck called Brampton, the WarBus pulls in front of a bar called the Red Leather Purse. I walk in, ignoring the riff raff, and walk on stage. Sekhmet throws the drunken lounge lizard off stage and we set up without saying a word.

In a gadda davita baby - Iron Butterfly / Twilight Zone - Golden Earring / I won’t back down - Tom Petty

While we’re on band break, Grey Rat comes up to chat. Sekhmet keeps an eye on the Rat, hand on her shotgun. They talk about how the band found me, naked in the desert, and gave me a guitar. The Rat, as can be expected, is unrepentant about shooting me. She tells him to behave because Tom knows the way to the Spires.

And She Was - Talking Heads / Back in Black - AC/DC / Big Balls / Thunderstruck /

We get to Ace’s family house and Rhino wants to get to know Grey Rat. I try to interfere but Rhino insists and getting closer to the weird one. Upset, Rhino sulks in the corner. Rhino - is looking for a father figure. His lowest moment was when he killed the previous lead singer. He is vulnerable because he does not deal well with rejection.

I become the cook and I burn the mushrooms. The rest of the evening is awkward. Ace’s Mom, wheezing and gasping, tries to draw Sekhmet into conversation but it doesn’t work. Sekhmet insists on tasting everything I put on my plate.

Everything’s cool until Ace’s Dad sees that I have the Fixx. He leans over and tells Ace. Ace announces that we all need to clean up and hit the road. Ace tells me that I have the Fixx but Sekhmet kisses me.

When we get to the bus, I open my brain. Spoonman is mopping the floor. The guy working the pharmacy asks if he can help. He has no lips but I follow him into the back. He’s autoclaving scalpels and heating brands. I must find the Sun Cult and see if they have the cure.

Ace and Melodie start to fight. There’s no other entertainment and a crowd gathers. I’m playing a blues tune with my harmonica. I hit a high note, cries tears of blood, and pass out. The maelstrom has told me where to find the Sun Cult and hopefully the cure. Sekhmet drags me into the bus.

The scene closes with the Blue Oyster Cult - Don’t Fear the Reaper
