The Horde Approaches!
Game log for the 2013/11/21 session of Brittania World, as taken by Jacko
Exuperata was dealing with the headaches of refugees and sitting lords in her own household. She pondered the Bevin family tree and which branches might need to be trimmed. Still, preperations were still underway and she oversaw those as she received word that Cissa was not inclined to help out or come into Caerlegion. She met with Corr, asking him if there was any way he could magick the town out of this mess. He wasn't sure, though she was certain he could and was simply sandbagging her, so he told her he'd rest up and give it a whirl as the horde got closer.
As the foretold day drew near, Corr setup a rather large amount of bonfires and naked people to do a group nature ritual, intending to hide the town as a large, craggy hill that the barbarians would hopefully avoid. He was able to harnass all the flowing natural energy and he felt the entirety of the world around him, finding a voice from every spirit. To Senica and Exuperata, he was convulsing, bleeding and spouting noises that no person could make. The ritual continued for some time and it stopped, so did Corr, becoming catatonic.
Senica decided to go scouting and told Exuperata that she was heading out. Exuperata went to Bevin, asking for scouts to accompany the horsewoman. Bevin was only too keen to bring up the scuffle that Senica had been involved in with his people. Senica ended up bringing Luccy and Caddog along with her, along with a few others, and went out searching for trouble.
They found small groups of Danes, usually less than half a dozen, drunk and grumbling about 'scouting'. While unorganized, the scouts were well-armed and armored and staying close to the main body of the horde to avoid getting picked off by people exactly like Senica. She decided to attack one of the scouting bands, purposefully 'lose' the engagement and then ride hard to the south east in an attempt to draw them into the ghost legion. The mounted group attacked a group and then left them in the dust, executing their plan but not knowing if it worked.
Corr finally came to but his eyes and ears didn't feel right anymore. His senses were dull and bland now and as he got up, he found that his blood had dried to moss. Exuperata was astonished and immediately took a large chunk for herself and handed the rest out as totems to some of her favored warriors, not including anyone from Deginwy. She went up to the wall and spoke to Bevin but they were soon joined by two scouts. One reported that he saw ghostly legionnaires to the south and the other was skeptical until Exuperata confirmed it. She explained everything that she had known of them but Bevin was very apprehensive and skeptical. Exuperata was very willing to listen to suggestions but Bevin continued to be skeptical and dismissive of Exuperatas efforts.
Corr wandered about, trying to figure out where he had buried his walnuts.
Senica sent her gang back to Caerlegion after riding southeast for some time. Once the gang was safely away, she opened her brain to the psychic maelstrom to try and determine if their plan had succeeded. The black fog rolled in and buffeted her from the north, with tendrils from the west and east with that distinctly differently terrifying fog from the south. When they met, there was a boom and she fell off her horse.
Delwin finds Exuperata and reported that one of Bevins men, Yorath, had gotten into a food cache and decided to have a feast. She arrived to find some very angry welshmen and some of her own guards, one of whom had a seeping dagger wound. She immediately told the men to disperse, to get to the walls or suffer the pain of her displeasure. They grumbled but Bevin wasn't there to bail them out and so they obeyed.
Corr was looking for his rabbit hole, remembering it being outside the walls.
