Demons started to board the ship and a chaotic battle ensues. Marneus was ordered to board the enemy ship and destroy its warp engines. He manages to succeed even though the boarding party take horrendous losses. Marneus 3rd child of Talfore and Anne Machariel.
Born while Talfore still traveled on the cruiser Wandering Minstrel, a Journeyman-class Fleet Support Ship.
Served aboard the cruiser Pious Spear, a Dauntless-class light cruiser, as master at arms.
The Spear came across an abandoned freighter during a journey through the maw. As they closed on the vessel to investigate the freighter powered up and latched on to the Spear pulling both into the Warp.
Demons started to board the ship and a chaotic battle ensues. Marneus was ordered to board the enemy ship and destroy its warp engines. He manages to succeed even though the boarding party take horrendous losses. Upon destruction of the warp drive the ships emerge dangerously close to the edge of a warp storm.
Upon his return to the Spear he is informed that most of the command staff is dead. This includes his eldest brother the captain. He is forced to take command of the vessel.
The running battle to free themselves from the freighter lasts 5 days. Finally free of the freighter Marneus orders a course set for Port Wander. Unfortunately due to the proximity of the warp storm the trip which seems like a couple of days takes 10 years.
During this time the other older sibling has died from what appears to be an assassination. Two other siblings are left. The elder of the two, Lyssa, was being groomed to take over the Warrant of Trade
