A late-stage red star, Harridan's only habitable planet is termed Ugnarth by its inhabitants. Following relatively staid patterns of development, Ugnarth's technological advance was significantly slowed by the outbreak of widespread nuclear weapons exchange by its five dominant political powers. Fortunately for the planet's residents, sufficient technology existed to weather the resulting nuclear winter. In the decades since, the four remaining powers have come to an uneasy truce, though espionage and conventional conflict in border regions and resource-rich areas is common. Visitors from elsewhere in the cluster are much more interested in Kelsoe and Heimlich (named by the explorers who first charted them), two rocky, metal-rich planetary bodies within the system. Vessels from advanced cultures elsewhere in the cluster have already begun establishing mining operations to exploit these uncontested resources.

Notes
