Jahazer Simoom is a character in Rogue Trader: After the Gold Rush

• Noble Born - The Simoom family is a staid, conservative Magisterial House of the Navis Nobilite with a long and distinguished tradition of service to the Imperium of Mankind. Jahazer is a product of said conservative and traditional upbringing.

• Savant - From his earliest days, Jahazer was committed to a life of study. At the hands of stern tutors he honed his craft. Not content with simply being a good Navigator, his forebears saw to his complete education, such that Jahazer would be able to function within the rarefied strata of Imperial society and ably represent his House. Such strenuous education left little time for other pursuits. Some students find such a regimented education stifling, but Jahazer thrived in this environment.

• Duty Bound - With his primary education complete, there was never any question as to Jahazer's next step - he would serve the Emperor as a Navigator aboard an Imperial Navy ship. His first posting was aboard the Firestorm class frigate Saint Cecilia. After a successful (if uneventful) tour, he was transferred to the Lunar-class Cruiser Voidspear.

• Dark Voyage - While in Warp on a routine patrol, the Voidspear suffered a temporary failure of its Geller field. While the ensuing intrusion of nightmarish entities onto the vessel was not enough to result in the utter destruction of the ship, the Voidspear was thrown far off course. By the time the field was restored and the worst of the incursions dealt with, the ship found itself deep in uncharted areas of space in the Karst Stars. Worse, the ship's Astropath was amongst the first casualties of the incursion, leaving the ship cut off and unable to communicate. So far from charted space, the Astronomican was but the faintest of glimmers. It took several years and many jumps, but Jahazer was able to successfully navigate the Voidspear back to known shipping lanes. The ship (and all aboard it) were forever changed, however, and few speak of the horrors endured those years aboard a Warp-tainted vessel.

• Prestige - The salvation of the Voidspear brought House Simoom many accolades. This did not sit well with the Navigators of House Aryth, who had used Voidspear's disappearance to besmirch the reputation of House Simoom. Upon learning of House Aryth's treacherous smear-campaign, Jahazer resolved himself to tirelessly advance his family's reputation, that no man alive would ever again question the skill and integrity of the Navigators of House Simoom.

• Navigator - Jahazer's term of military service was up (in fact overdue, given the length of time it took to bring the Voidspear back from the unknown). Given his experience with scrying the Warp so far from the Astronomican, the Navis Novator of House Simoom elected to use Jahazer where his talents might be put to their best use - on a ship of long-time Simoom allies House Machariel, an august family of Rogue Traders in the Koronus Expanse.
