The seat was the result of political favors garnered through the distribution of lands and titles in Eidel province, along with the political calculation that Ryburn would encounter less opposition to Senate entry than Kronas himself, whose popularity earned the enmity of several powerful Senators. So far, Ryburn has been both studious and conscientious, and has been careful not to be heavy-handed in exercising his family’s growing political power. Kronas is aware of Ryburn’s relationship with Kelen of Vanthes and while he does not disapprove in the abstract, he has cautioned Ryburn to break it off before it becomes serious enough to be used as political leverage.
