Chasing Ace

Game log for the 2016/12/18 session of Wanderers, as taken by Joe

Secret: All the story about Ace have been true through the years, as if he has always driven the car.

Major Tom and the SPD bring Fifi along to chase Ace. They get him in a box canyon and move in to talk with him. Fifi goes for higher ground. We hear gunfire and throw up a perimeter around the car. I hear Ace call from the ridge and I climb up. We talk about how to get Ace to come back to the Tangles, get the money for me to pay everyone back, and get out alive.

His answer is for us to go with him to Sparta, get the war buggy, and <air quotes>return him to Sparta</air quotes> for the reward.

When we get to Sparta, however, the place is a ghost town. A tanker truck, like the one from the Leto Deck is on the outskirts of town. I get spooked and we roll. Ace leaves the car and takes the war buggy.

I open my mind and find Ace has knocked over a jar of black mayo on the floor and gotten it all over his hand. Ace starts screaming as the mayo starts crawling across the floor toward him.

Back in the real world, I rally the gang, but Kelso’s missing. The rest of them are spooked and ready to bolt when Spoonman steps out of the shadows. I ask him what he thinks about searching for Kelso.

I have to assert myself (Pack Alpha) but we go in and search around for Kelso. When Ringo goes missing, I’m not staying around for anymore and we go back to the bikes with 2 Barter.

Ace and Spoon are poking around the tanker. They’re pointing out the little footprints leading into the Tumble, just like the kid from the Leto Deck. I finally convince them to get far enough from town to be safe before we rest.

Spoon and Fifi pick the campsite. I pay Ace off with 1 Barter and give Spoonman another toward what I owe him. Now I only owe Spoon 1 Barter.

It’s two more days before we pull back into the Tangle. Spoon takes off while we’re coming up with a plan. Ace rides bitch behind Mama Cass, fitting easily behind the anorexic biker babe. We leave Fifi with the War Buggy. In the Tangles, Traipse comes out and tries to demand that we bring Ace to Vernegath, but we’re not going anywhere without being paid. They roll out some oil drums and I tell Mama Cass to go pay Spoon while I walk Ace back to the boss. She holds on to the barter for Fifi.

I climb up the gantry to see Vernegath holding court with the Seer and Melody. He wants to know why Ace ran. They banter back and forth a little, but it boils down to Vernegath wants to hold Ace to a “promise” he thinks Ace made to Melody. Ace doesn’t remember the promise and expresses the notion that everything is void on account of Melody’s assault on his ride.

Vernegath is unimpressed. He tells Ace that, since Ace promised to take her away with him, Ace has to leave and take Melody with him. In addition to that, Vernegath sentences Ace to a week’s hard labor. Ace isn’t interested, so in the interest of GTFO, I offer some advice to Vernegath. I tell him that Ace’s honeymoon isn’t likely to be peaceful and it’s for the best of everyone that he kick them out of town fast.

They finally settle on 4 barter and immediate departure. SPD and I go find Fifi to tell her that everything is cool.

I open my brain to seek out Kelso and Ringo. I find them behind the butcher’s counter, butchering themselves. I ask for tongue and Kelso gives me his. Ringo puts it on the slicer and weighs it out for me. He’s wrapping it in white paper when I snap out of it.
