He manages to succeed even though the boarding party take horrendous losses. Upon destruction of the warp drive the ships emerge dangerously close to the edge of a warp storm. 	Upon his return to the Spear he is informed that most of the command staff is dead. This includes his eldest brother the captain. He is forced to take command of the vessel.
